Consuming vodka has been one of the national passions of Russia, from the reign of the Tsars, through the Communist era, to present day. During the late part of the 19th century, strict standards were laid down by the Russian state, that ensured that only the highest quality vodka could be officially sold. The predecessors to the Russian Vodka House created the vodka recipes we use today as a closely guarded state secret, as precious almost as the details of the Russian space programme. |
